CASE STUDY: Pacific Coast Village

Every now and then we work on a project that’s a little different from the rest. In this case, it was for a retirement village based between Papamoa and Mount Maunganui.  Forget the dated wallpaper and beige furniture – this was all about delivering energy from the floor up!

Pacific Coast Village prides itself on its modern style and being able offer its residents an independent lifestyle. This also applies to it’s newly-developed gym area which The Flooring Room were chosen to help complete.

Pavigym was the type of flooring that was used by Dave and the team to complete this project. This dynamic flooring can be pieced together in many different ways like a jigsaw. Although it will sit tight on the floor, it is also just as easy to take up and re-arrange if a re-structure is desired, which is more common in a gym areas.

Pavigym is made from a strong, durable rubber which is great for absorbing impact (such as weights dropping) and is ideal in a workout area as it is softer underfoot to avoid jarring joints and muscles. This type of flooring is also popular in playgrounds.

The overall result was received extremely well by management, staff, and residents at Pacific Coast Village. The bright colours, incorporated interval/stride-out track (in green), and softer materials are all what turned this room into a gym. It became a place that is pleasant to be in while lifting energy levels – giving that extra boost to start a work out!

The next step? Get some equipment in and get pumping!
